The thief that is not caught is king.
The following story is based on a whistleblower's account who
is now sharing his story after more than 25 years of being silent.
IN THE LATE 1990s, a German engineering company hired a young engineer named Christean Kapp to set up the first Western joint venture between Germany and India. Meticulous and detailed oriented, Christean was the consummate company man and ideal candidate.
"I wish you the best of success and luck in India...
but I don't believe you can succeed."
PUNE, India's engineering capital, is experiencing severe growing pains. From the constant interaction with Western people and their ways to the construction struggles to keep up with an ever-increasing population that is fueled by international companies arriving on the scene to take advantage of cheap labor and resources, Pune is a city in transition, and Christean senses it.
As he acquaints himself with Pune, exploring it on foot, bike, or on car for extensive travel to the surrounding area and other cities, Christean slowly adjusts and adapts to the cultural pace and sensibilities that moving there alone afforded him. Along with the sights, sounds, and smells, he meets a variety of people who develop his appreciation for the beautiful ancient ways of India.

That is like taking the curry out of your food..."
As Christean becomes more familiar with the engineering facility and those who work there, he is unnerved to see how the company books don't seem to add up. Other than a beautiful love interest named Sharon, no one is willing to speak to Christean about his concerns.
As he prepares a report for the German office, he gets nowhere in the interviews he conducts throughout the office and plant, which requires him to review the business risks/liabilities, and profits/losses alone. Until Sharon tells him where to look. Armed with the information he needs, he shares his findings in a phone conference with the home office only to be shocked by what happens.
"Where are the handwritten minutes I gave you?"
"No, sir, we don't have them."
With the help of Sharon and against all odds, Christean fights to expose the truth, confronting the corrupt leadership of the German company and in the process, risk his life and reputation. As he races to unravel the truth and hold the company accountable, he faces powerful enemies, gains unexpected allies, and confronts moral dilemmas that put to test his faith and principles.
